1920  -  2008

Martena Murray Leishman Casperson, 88, died Monday, August 18, 2008 in Ogden.

She was born February 23, 1920 in Banida, Idaho, the daughter of Thomas Harrison and Maude Lauretta Geddes Murray. She lived in Banida, Idaho for several years before moving to Ogden. She graduated from Ogden High School and LDS Business College.

Martena married Robert Bingham Leishman on August 10, 1941 in Ogden. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 13, 1947. She and Bob adopted and loved two children, James Robert Leishman and Linda Kay Leishman (deceased). Bob passed away October 21, 1985. She married Quentin Casperson, a grade school friend from Idaho, in October of 1989 in Ogden. Quentin passed away in August of 1999.

She was a lifelong, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings including Sunday School Teacher, Primary and Relief Society President.

Martena was an excellent golfer and won many awards with her expertise in golf. She was a member of the Ogden Golf and Country Club.

Surviving are her son, James Robert Leishman, four step-children, Quentin, Shannon, Claudia and Frank, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, 23 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, Evan (Rita) Murray, Ralph Clair Murray and Joe (Floy) Murray.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Kay Leishman, three sisters, Margaret (Stan) Thompson, Faye (Dick) Dunlap, Louann (Bill) Jackson and her brother, Hugh (Iola) Murray.

Martena’s family would like to thank Hospice and Manor Care Nursing Center for their help and support of Martena.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Sullivan Hollow 2nd Ward Chapel, 976 – 33rd Street.

Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday at the Ward Chapel from 10 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
