Marlene Brown, loving sister, aunt, and dear friend, passed away August 18, 2008. She was born April 18, 1945 in Hessle, Yorkshire, England to William Henry and Doris Shortland Brown. She grew up in her homeland of England and later moved to the United States.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Marlene served a health mission to Guatemala and El Salvador in 1973-74. She also spent time in Honduras. She was employed as a health care-giver, loving and serving those she cared for.
Marlene will be missed by many friends who will remember her kind ways and fun sense of humor. Special thanks to her Hospice of Utah nurses, Karen and especially Maryan and her family, William, Abby, and James for their loving care of Marlene in their home for six months. Many thanks to her dear friends, Josh and Jackie Proulx, Ginnie Snyder, Eve Hendrix, and Yolanda Amado.
Marlene is survived by two sisters, Barbara Brown Hodson, England; Christine Brown Klar (Sascha), England; a niece, Debra Brown Wesselby (Martin), England; grand nephews, Martin Jr. and Adam; and a nephew, Beryl Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bryan Brown; and a nephew, Melvyn Brown.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sunnyridge Ward Chapel, 130 North 1500 East, Spanish Fork, Utah. Friends may call from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
