Our sweet daughter, sister and granddaughter, Alyssa Lynn Chappell, age 2, returned home to her Heavenly Father on Friday, August 15, 2008, at her home in Lyman, after a 6-month battle with neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer.
Although Alyssa's stay here on earth was short, she was loved by all who knew her. She was born June 6, 2006 in Provo, Utah, a daughter of David and Lori Lynn Peterson Chappell.
Alyssa loved being outside and riding the four-wheeler. She loved being around animals, especially our dog and cats, and loved helping feed the horses. She loved smiling, laughing and playing with her siblings and cousins. She stayed active and playful up until shortly before her death.
The last few days of her life were spent riding around the mountains surrounding our home. Although the cancer took her life, it can never take away the memory of those big blue eyes and the joy she brought into our home.
We know her spirit lives on and we will be with her again. "Night-Night 'Lyssa, see you in the morning."
She is survived by her parents, David and Lori Chappell of Lyman; sister and brothers: Brinlee Chappell, Landon Chappell, Tyler Chappell and Logan Chappell, all of Lyman; grandparents, Thomas and GaeLynn Sorenson Peterson of Loa; Carla and Dilworth Lyman of Roy, and the late Thomas L. Chappell of Lyman; numerous aunts and uncles and cousins, that truly love and will miss Alyssa.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center in Loa, Utah. Friends may call for viewing at the Lyman LDS Ward Chapel in Lyman, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the Stake Center in Loa, Wednesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Lyman Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
